The Fab Four

A new Beatles exhibition telling the story of the Fab Four's triumphant return to Liverpool is to be opened.

Another Hard Day's Night is about the band's return to the city in 1964 after their worldwide success to attend the northern premier of their first film.

Thousands lined the streets to try to catch a glimpse of their heroes.

The exhibition in the central library shows letters between the mayor and Brian Epstein, plus newspaper cuttings, publicity photographs and memorabilia.

John Lennon's sister Julia Baird will be officially opening the exhibition.

'Bonafide superstars'

Liverpool City Council's executive member for libraries, Councillor Colin Eldridge said: "This is a fantastic exhibition, which tells one of the most amazing stories in the history of popular music.

"Another Hard Day's Night captures a hugely significant period in The Beatles' remarkable history, a time when four local lads returned to their home city as bonafide superstars.

"With tens of thousands of tourists now converging on our city to see the European Capital of Culture for themselves, this exhibition couldn't have come at a better time. It's a fantastic boost to our celebrations."

The exhibition lasts until 17 February in Liverpool central library.
